Bugs seen on radar

A swarm of many millions of ladybugs taking to the sky in Southern California this week to hunt for aphids has been captured on a radar screen as a massive blob. The insect swarm spanned 80 miles by 80 miles, centered about 70 miles east of Los Angeles. It is not just ladybugs which are seen on radar. Bats often fly out of caves around Austin, Texas, and in Iowa mayflies show up from time to time.
