Retail sales in the US increased in May 2019

Retail sales in the US increased in May 2019 and sales for the prior month were revised higher, suggesting a pick-up in consumer spending. The Commerce Department said retail sales rose 0.5 percent in May 2019 as households bought more motor vehicles and a variety of other goods.  Sales at bars and restaurants increased 0.7 percent last month, while those at hobby, musical instrument and book stores rose 1.1 percent.

GM to boost production of heavy duty trucks – invests $150 million

General Motors has reported it is investing about $150 million at its Flint Assembly plant in Michigan to boost production of heavy duty trucks by an additional 40,000 vehicles a year. The Flint investment will include upgrades to the plant’s conveyors and other new tooling, and will be completed in the first half of 2020. GM has invested more than $1.6 billion in the plant since 2013. Continue reading
